Overview

The Data Foundation submitted recommendations to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government for FY 2026, emphasizing three critical priorities: robust implementation of the Financial Data Transparency Act to reduce regulatory burden and combat fraud; increased funding for OMB's information policy functions to strengthen cross-agency data governance; and adequate resources for Chief Data Officers and Evaluation Officers. The recommendations highlight how data standards and common entity identifiers can significantly improve government efficiency, enhance transparency, and reduce improper payments. The Data Foundation also emphasized the importance of the OPEN Government Data Act implementation and urged support for the Federal Data Strategy.
