Slides: Evidence-Based Equity: Building Community and Trust for Evaluation and Evidence in the 21st Century
For federal evaluators, passage of the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018 (Evidence Act) offers new opportunities to consider application of principles and practices. The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued standards in 2020, required by the Evidence Act, outlining the role of equity, fairness, and justness, as well as cultural and contextual factors for evaluation, as an element of the ethics standards. As agencies begin taking steps to implement the Evidence Act and the OMB guidance on evaluation standards, a range of specific actions can support evidence-based equity in practice. The second webinar in the Issues in Evaluation Series, jointly sponsored by the Government Accountability Office and the Data Foundation, explorde what evidence-based equity means and how to apply the concept in practice, consistent with OMB guidance and responsible evaluation practice.
