Overview

As the legal requirements and political expectations increase for federal agencies to conduct and use program evaluations, the need to support capacity-building activities across the government also increases. In 2021, the Data Foundation and the American Evaluation Association surveyed federal evaluation officials to gather insights and perspectives from evaluation officials about the challenges, resource availability, and opportunities in the coming year. The Data Foundation and American Evaluation Association hosted a discussion about the survey results and what they mean for the national evaluation community for the maturing evaluation function in the federal government.
