Washington, D.C. – Data Coalition Chief Executive Officer Nick Hart, Ph.D. issued the following statement on the Government Accountability Office’s DATA Act report, released November 8th, 2019:
The Data Coalition applauds Treasury and OMB’s continued efforts to drastically improve the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of the financial information it collects from agencies in accordance with the DATA Act. If implemented successfully, the DATA Act will provide a more comprehensive picture of how citizen’s dollars are spent across each agency, enabling greater transparency and accountability across government. We encourage the implementing agencies to continue to collaborate with the Federal Data Strategy team as they work to implement similar government-wide data laws such as the Evidence Act.
