Data Foundation President Nick Hart issued the following statement about the U.S. Census Bureau’s plans to launch a new survey related to the coronavirus pandemic, called the Household Pulse Survey:
This week the White House approved the Census Bureau’s plans to launch an important and new household survey to ensure our country has good information about the coronavirus pandemic. The Census Bureau’s effort aligns well with the Data Foundation’s COVID Impact Survey, conducted in partnership with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and NORC at the University of Chicago. The Data Foundation launched the COVID Impact Survey because our government was unable to act quickly enough to capture the early trends of the pandemic. We are pleased that the COVID Impact Survey and the government-led survey will be complimentary and will vastly expand the information available to the American public and our decision-makers.
