Data Coalition Statement on Proposed Citizenship Question for the 2020 Census

Washington, D.C. – Data Coalition CEO Nick Hart’s statement following the Supreme Court’s decision about the proposed citizenship question for the 2020 census in United States Department of Commerce v. New York (No. 18-966):

“The census count every 10 years is one of the most important data collection activities undertaken by our government. The Supreme Court reaffirmed that the census is the ‘linchpin’ of the federal statistical system, a statement that underscores the need for accurate and reliable information to be available for business leaders and government officials to make informed decisions. The Data Coalition looks forward to continuing our work with the Census Bureau to ensure the 2020 census results in useful data for the American public.”
