Steve Mumford, Ph.D. is a tenured associate professor of political science and public administration at the University of New Orleans. Dr. Mumford directs the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at UNO, and teaches courses in program evaluation and public and nonprofit management. He has almost 20 years of experience conducting program evaluations for foundations and nonprofits throughout the United States and abroad. Dr. Mumford studies organizational resilience and social equity in the regional nonprofit sector, including how to assess and build supportive organizational capacities related to adaptive and strategic management, program evaluation, and collaboration, and methods for identifying and addressing inequities in nonprofit leadership and funding. He completed his doctorate at George Washington University, an MPA at the University of Washington, and BA at Columbia University. In 2021 and 2024, Dr. Mumford co-authored the Data Foundation’s longitudinal surveys of Federal Evaluation Officials conducted in partnership with the American Evaluation Association.
