Ben Macdonald is a Senior Fellow at the Data Foundation, contributing to both Special Projects and the Climate Data Collective. Prior to the data foundation, Ben was the managing principal of the Climate Market Strategy & infrastructure (CMSI) group: a philanthropic initiative of Michal R Bloomberg.  In that role, Ben oversaw the creation of the Net Zero Data Public Utility (NZDPU) and participated in the creation of the Global Carbon Market Utility (GCMU).

Prior to CMSI and the data foundation, Ben spent 25 years in financial markets where he most recently served as the global head of Bloomberg’s Enterprise Products Group, President of Bloomberg's multi-asset class swap execution facility (SEF) and CEO of Bloomberg Tradebook LLC. In addition, Ben chaired the Bloomberg Index oversight committee. Ben has always been a keen student of market structure and testified in front of the US Senate on derivatives reform. He worked with global regulators across a variety of financial market initiatives.
