Catherine Atkin is a Senior Fellow at the Data Foundation and Co-founder of the Global Digital Single Market Data Alliance, a project of the Data Foundation Climate Data Collaborative.  She is an attorney and expert on corporate sustainability reporting, carbon market infrastructure and green finance with a focus on emerging economies across the globe. She was an architect and the chief technical and legal advisor on California’s new corporate GHG emissions reporting law, the Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act (SB 253), and advises and speaks on the law’s implementation. 

She chairs the Stanford Law School CodeX Climate Data Policy Initiative (CDPI) where she brings together climate experts, attorneys, and technologists to explore how next-gen technologies like Distributed Ledger Technology and AI can deliver the trusted climate data needed to catalyze markets and green finance.  She also works with the UNFCCC Global Innovation Hub on projects to drive low emissions sustainable development, and is a member of the Technical Working Group for the update of the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard.
