J.B. Wogan is the Director of Communications at the Data Foundation. He previously managed strategic communications at Mathematica, where he edited the company's blog, led media relations, and hosted On the Evidence, the company's podcast about the intersection of public policy, social science research, and data. J.B. spent the first 10 years of his career as a journalist, writing for Governing magazine, PolitiFact, the Seattle Times, and the Sammamish Review. As a reporter, he covered a wide range of subjects within public policy, including behavioral nudge experiments, public sector innovation teams, performance management STAT programs, and pay-for-success contracting. He is also the coauthor of a short book about innovation in local government called Peak Performance: How Denver’s Peak Academy is Saving Money, Boosting Morale and Just Maybe Changing the World. (And How You Can, Too!)
J.B. is a graduate of the Master of Arts in Public Policy program at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, which is where he first learned about the world of evidence-informed public policy. Throughout his career, he has helped translate and contextualize complex public policy issues while lifting up proven solutions that can make society better for everyone. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife and two children.
