Anna Karion is a Senior Fellow with the Data Foundation's Climate Data Collaborative and a research scientist with 17 years of experience specializing in greenhouse gas (GHG) measurements and modeling. Her work focuses on interpreting atmospheric observations and using models to estimate emissions at regional and local scales. Most recently, she served as the Program Manager for the Greenhouse Gas Measurements program at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Concurrently, since 2015, she was a research scientist in NIST’s Urban Testbed project, focusing on estimating anthropogenic methane and carbon dioxide emissions in metropolitan areas.
Prior to joining NIST, she supported airborne GHG monitoring and measurement campaigns as a member of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Monitoring Laboratory. She holds a Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology and a B.S. from Yale University, both in mechanical engineering.
