Annmarie Eldering is a Senior Fellow at the Climate Data Collaborative. Since late 2022, she has been focused on remote sensing of methane plumes. For three years, she led efforts in documentary and consensus standards for methane plumes at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Her work on remote sensing of methane plumes builds on her knowledge of remote sensing of Earth’s atmosphere, developed in her over 20 years at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). At JPL, she was in project scientist roles on the Orbiting Carbon Observatories 2 and 3, which are still in orbit, precisely sensing carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. She was also involved in satellite missions focused on weather, atmospheric chemistry, and aerosols.

Eldering holds a Ph.D. in environmental engineering science from the California Institute of Technology and a B.E. in chemical engineering from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.
