POSITION OVERVIEW

The Data Foundation is currently seeking an Operations Associate who can help perform administrative, operational, and organizational tasks that support the mission of the organization, specifically related to finance and accounting, grant reporting, human resources, and other contract oversight functions. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in grant reporting and finance oversight, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a desire to contribute to the organization's mission of improving evidence-informed decision-making across government.

The Operations Associate role works closely with analysts and directors to support operational activities in support of Data Foundation programs, including tasks and responsibilities that support policy and research activities, events, and communications activities, as well as external affairs activities such as member and donor relations, that involve use of the association management system. The Operations Associate will specifically support the Operations Director.

This non-supervisory position will be based in Washington, DC (in-office and remote).

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Operations Director with financial monitoring and reporting, revenue and expense transactions, and reporting in coordination with senior leadership and Data Foundation Board Finance Committee. Finance activities may, for example, include support for monthly close of finances, expense categorization, receipt collection, and other processing and administrative tasks and supporting compliance and financial reporting. 
  • Support efforts to improve and maintain the Data Foundation’s organization-wide documentation infrastructure, including for maintaining and managing grant and contract reporting and support the Operations Director with identifying strategies for improved efficiency of organizational operations during periods of growth. 
  • Coordinate end-to-end event logistics and documentation, including creating registration links, managing attendee and speaker registration, generating attendance reports, developing run-of-shows, project plans and timelines, and creating templates and social media kits for speakers to ensure consistent and professional event execution.
  • Support the communications team in drafting and scheduling social media content to promote organizational events, schedule planning meetings with internal teams and external partners, and maintain event-related documentation and processes in alignment with organizational standards.
  • Coordinate with relevant staff to update and maintain the association management system, relevant contact lists, member and network events, and other records for organizational funders and supporters.
  • Support relevant program activities of the organization and other duties as assigned to the associate for supporting the Data Foundation’s mission.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Applicants must have a relevant associate’s degree or higher. Bachelor’s degree preferred in a relevant field along with prior nonprofit operations work or volunteer experience with some existing knowledge of or exposure to operational management, grant reporting, or finance oversight.

The Data Foundation offers a competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience and education. The position is budgeted at $40,000 for full-time with compensation set based on relevant work experience and qualifications.
