Press Release: Appointment of Corinna Turbes to GSA Open Government Federal Advisory Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 20, 2024 – The Data Foundation is pleased to announce that Corinna Turbes, Director of the Center for Data Policy has been appointed to serve on the Open Government Federal Advisory Committee (OGFAC). This committee, established by the General Services Administration (GSA), will play an important role in advising the GSA Administrator about federal open government and public engagement efforts.

The OGFAC will initially focus on developing the U.S. National Open Action Plans, with likely themes around increasing public access to data, engaging the public in the regulatory process, and making government records accessible.

Turbes brings extensive experience in data policy and open government initiatives to the committee. As the Director of the Data Foundation’s Center for Data Policy, she has been at the forefront of advocating for improved data practices and transparency in government operations.

Daniel Schuman, a Data Foundation fellow and CEO of the American Governance Institute, was also appointed to the committee and named as the chair.  

The Data Foundation has been a longtime supporter of the GSA Open Government Secretariat. In April 2024, the Foundation co-hosted an Open Data Forum with GSA and the federal CDO Council, demonstrating our collective commitment to advancing open government initiatives.

The OGFAC comprises a diverse group of experts from civil society, federal agencies, academia, and industry. Turbes and Schuman will serve alongside other distinguished members, contributing to discussions on key themes such as access to information, digital governance, and public participation.
