The Data Foundation, in collaboration with Deloitte, conducted its fifth annual iteration of the Federal CDO Survey, revealing a maturing CDO function across the federal government, with evolving priorities and confidence in the CDO roles – alongside growing concern with limited capacity and a lack of guidance.

The Data Foundation’s CDO Survey aims to understand the evolving role of federal CDOs since the passage of the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018, which established a framework to leverage data as a strategic asset and designated federal Chief Data Officers to oversee federal data governance and management responsibilities.
