Data Coalition Calls on Senate Committee to Advance Revised AI in Government Act

Washington, D.C. – Data Coalition Chief Executive Officer Nick Hart, Ph.D. issued the following statement in advance of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs markup of the bipartisan AI in Government Act of 2019 (S. 1363):

The Data Coalition strongly supports the Senate substitute amendment for the “AI in Government Act” and encourages the Senate to rapidly advance this legislation. Federal agencies must prepare to harness increasingly innovative data analytic approaches while deploying appropriate privacy protections. The Senate substitute for the “AI in Government Act” outlines a responsible path for government’s future uses of artificial intelligence, including  recruiting a workforce that can effectively deploy AI and coordinate applications across agencies.
