Data Coalition Senior Director of Policy, Christian Hoehner issued the following statement following the House Select Committee on the Modernization hearing on Thursday, May 23:
“The Data Coalition applauds the Committee’s efforts to improve transparency and efficiency throughout the legislative branch. We have long supported the transformation of legislative materials into a data structure known as USLM or U.S. Legislative Markup. USLM will enable new tools like automatic amendment impact redlines and bill text reconciliation. The Committee’s work to modernize the legislative branch will result in a more efficient, more accountable, and more effective government.”
