Daniel Baker is the Communications Director for the Data Foundation. Most recently, he created communications strategies for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, specifically related to clean energy and small business tax issues. Before that, he developed and executed the communications plan for World Resource Institute’s (WRI) Climate Solutions Partnership for three years; helping steer private sector finance toward nature based solutions and accelerating the clean energy transition in six different countries on three continents.
Daniel holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park. He began his career pursuing his first love – soccer – as a national radio producer helping to launch SiriusXM FC. From there, he led communications efforts at a variety of non-profit and for-profit companies; from public health to tourism. Pivoting to a career in the climate & policy space, he earned his MPA in Environmental Policy Management & Law from the University of Colorado - Denver while spearheading communications for a clean energy startup, before landing with WRI’s Corporate Relations team.
