Brent Madoo is a Senior Fellow at the Data Foundation for the Center for Data Policy, bringing more than a decade of experience working at the intersection of education data, policy, and public transparency. His work has focused on helping organizations design data systems and public-facing data tools that are credible, usable, and responsive to real-world decision-making needs.

Most recently, Brent served as Deputy Chief Data Officer for Innovation and Engagement at the U.S. Department of Education. In that role, he led nationally significant data initiatives including the College Scorecard, the Education Stabilization Fund Transparency Portal, and the Department’s Open Data strategy. His work emphasized strengthening data quality and governance, translating complex policy and regulatory requirements into practical tools, and improving how data is shared with policymakers, practitioners, and the public.

Outside of work, Brent is a parent of two children and coaches youth basketball and flag football. Those experiences keep his work grounded in the real-world needs of students and families and reinforce his belief that data should be clear, accessible, and genuinely useful. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Dickinson College and an M.P.P. from George Mason University.
