Center for Climate and Environmental Data
The Center for Climate and Environmental Data (CCED, pronounced “seed”) is a program of the Data Foundation. Our vision is a federated and interoperable data ecosystem where decision-makers have the data needed to drive markets, mitigation, conservation, finance, and compliance—one where public agencies provide foundational data and private actors are motivated to contribute. Our partners span government agencies, private sector data providers, research institutions, and international organizations.
The CCED is one of five Data Foundation program centers. It applies the same nonpartisan, knowledge-broker approach the organization brings to federal data policy across all sectors.
The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Coalition brings together technical expertise from academia, private sector, NGOs, and former government officials to strengthen and coordinate the U.S. greenhouse gas measurement, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MMRV) ecosystem.
▶ Global Digital Single Market Data Alliance
The Global Digital Single Market Data Alliance (DSMDA) serves as a convening platform engaging governments, regulators, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to build the robust climate and natural capital open-source data ecosystems market actors need to access green finance, carbon markets, and comply with statutory reporting demands.
▶ Methane Plume Technical Working Group
The Methane Plume Technical Working Group supports the rapidly growing field of remote sensing for the detection and quantification of methane emissions.
▶ Open Data Portal for Neighborhood-Level Emissions
In partnership with Crosswalk Labs, we launched an open data portal at open.crosswalk.io that provides free access to neighborhood-level emissions information, empowering local communities to take informed climate action.
We drive change by facilitating collaborative thought leadership, convening technical experts and decision-makers across sectors; conducting original research; engaging policymakers; and developing data platforms to improve the accessibility and usefulness of climate and environmental data.
